THE WHITE HOUSE

On December 2, 2021, the Biden administration decided to reinstate the 'Remain in Mexico' policy, officially known as the Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP). Originating from the Trump administration in 2019, this policy requires asylum seekers in the U.S. to await their court dates in Mexico, often facing dangers such as violence and homelessness. This move was controversial as President Biden had promised more humane immigration policies. Despite this, a year into his presidency, the 'Remain in Mexico' and Title 42 policies remained. Consequently, 100 individuals, including former refugees and immigrants like Ramazan, submitted a letter demanding the Biden administration to rescind these Trump-era policies.
